The main reasons for quitting caffeine is I thought:
1. I was drinking too much coffee (fresh brew filter, organic/fairtrade!) and
2. The head-splitting headaches were caused from a reduced intake of caffeine from a large intake of caffeine and these headaches were the “side effect” (more like side bashing through the sides of the scull ! ).
But it seems as though I was wrong. Because the headaches were so severer I decided to back to my normal dose of caffeine to relieve the headaches, and the headaches just continued.
Now though, through prayer and dogged persistence (OK, slight exaggeration on the dogged bit) the headaches appear to have gone, and I have reduced my caffeine intake also. One up for prayer and for God in answering. Just so you know and if anyone is reading this and saying, “So, what did you do?”, I will tell you. First I made the coffee weaker. and secondly, I switched over to tea earlier in the morning (tea contains less caffeine). And thirdly, I drink lots more water. For the record, I was drinking about 8 mugs of fresh brew filter coffee between 6 am and 4 pm where I would then have about 4 mugs of tea, then 1 mug of Rooibos tea before bed. Now I have 2 or 3 mugs of weak coffee (fresh brew filter), between 6 am and 11 am, then 2 or 3 mugs of tea, and 1 mug of Rooibos tea before bed. I also now drink about 2 litres of water a day which I think helps tremendously. I would like to go further, but this is a good starting point to move on from.
